Learn how to custom make and design a halo engagement ring. Congratulations to Jessica and Fabian!

Ever wondered how an engagement ring gets made? We had the pleasure of guiding our client Fabian through the custom design process from idea to "YES!" and it was incredible. Fabian started with a fairly clear picture of his ring. He knew he wanted a substantial center stone set in a halo sitting low to the finger so it would be comfortable. We played with a few concepts and eventually added a matching pavé split-shank band in 18K white gold. It was important to Fabian that he work with a local jeweler of the highest caliber. After exploring options both near and far, we let our instinct be our guide and decided to work with Monique of Gold Direct Jewelers in Sudbury, Ontario. By then, we had really done our homework, and as Fabian explains it:

...by the time I went into their shop, I knew exactly what I wanted. Monique could not have been more accommodating and helpful. She worked hard to source the perfect centre stone and in the end, found exactly what I was looking for! I came to Monique with a very specific design criteria and she was able to produce a carbon copy of what I had envisioned, what more could you ask for?!

"Working with Little Bird and Lia was an excellent, full service experience; Lia was able to conceptualize my vision and provide a wide array of design elements that complemented one another - she even made me a private Pinterest board to kick things off! Although I began this process with what I thought was a clear vision, after working with Lia and digging deeper to determine what Jessica would ultimately love and appreciate, I ended up deviating from the guidelines I had gathered from Jess in the months leading up to this. Ultimately, this was the best result of the entire process, because when all was said and done, Jess was pleasantly surprised and elated that I was able to come up with an original design that contained parts of both our personalities - the ring is now truly a symbol of our partnership as well as our first family heirloom!

The ring is finished! Monique did a great job. It's gorgeous and we couldn't be happier for Fabian and Jessica.
